Prevent Child Abuse Oregon (PCAO)

Prevention Training Library

Whether you are an educator, health care provider, home visitor, child care provider, neighbor, business leader, parent, young person, or community member in Oregon this library is for YOU. Prevention happens in partnership and everyone has a role to play in building thriving communities. Learn about your role in supporting families and children, together we can create a future without violence and abuse.

We all play a role in supporting families and children in our communities!

Caregiving is collective, inclusive, and expansive. Whether or not you're a parent, we are all collective caregivers to children in our communities.

Caregiving can look like volunteering in a mentorship program for children in schools and community centers. It can also look like sharing information about local resources - food banks, educational programs, or counseling services - to help families in need of support.

Collective caregiving is vital to our community wellbeing and the responsibility is all of ours. Collective caregiving includes every decision we make as a society, about every social issue, and we owe care to kids and families of all races, backgrounds, and identities.

Collective caregiving can look like calling or writing to our elected representatives, and attending community events, to demand action that supports children and families.

However you choose to show up as a caregiver, you’re contributing to a collective movement toward child and family wellbeing. Our children are the future and together we can ensure they have what they need to thrive in their homes and communities.

Growing Prevention Community Chats

Every March and April, PCAO partners with Oregon's Sexual Assault Task Force to host a series of live virtual chats exploring the linkages between anti-violence/abuse and other efforts such as food access, recreation and play, housing supports, technology, libraries, and much more! Each live chat is recorded and edited into smaller videos, then posted to our "Welcome to Prevention Land" page (linked below).

Talking about trauma is not traumatic. Talking about it and not responding is.
